Adjunct EMDR

Teamwork Discussion Moment

What Is Adjunct EMDR Therapy?

We’ve all experienced moments in therapy where progress feels stalled or we find ourselves looping around the same painful experiences. This can be discouraging for both the client and the therapist. When a primary therapist and client partner with an EMDR specialist, that collaboration can often help move treatment forward.

I work alongside primary therapists and their clients to target specific memories, body sensations, or limiting beliefs using EMDR. By focusing on clearly defined traumatic memories or intrusive material, brief adjunct EMDR can accelerate progress in traditional therapy, help resolve stuck points, and deepen the ongoing therapeutic work.

Adjunct EMDR therapy does not replace or disrupt the relationship with the primary therapist—it serves as a supplement to it. Clients continue their regular therapy while receiving targeted EMDR support, often in an intensive format. Success depends on well-defined goals, established collaboratively between the client, the primary therapist, and myself.
